Photographing a property for sale is something that sounds quite easy to do at first. This is why so many people do it themselves and realise that the results don’t really do the house justice. Many Estate Agents also choose to do their own photography and find that they don’t really have the time to do a decent job of it leaving their vendors with photos that are ‘OK’ but don’t ‘wow’ the buyers.

With the internet and websites such as Rightmove and Zoopla establishing themselves as the way to market properties online your house images really need to stand out. Buyers are usually faced with many properties to choose from and the listings only have up to four images to initially grab their attention enough to get them to click on the listing. If these images, usually the front elevation and a few interior images, don’t grab their attention and inspire them they won’t click on the listing, they will simply keep scrolling…

Things that put buyers off could be unsightly objects in the image such as wheelie bins, messy rooms and clutter everywhere obscuring the rooms or technical issues that make the image uncomfortable to look at such as converging verticals making the walls appear to be at awkward angles (all vertical lines should be vertical!) or very poor lighting/exposure which means the view through the window of the garden looks great but inside the room is very dark and unviting. Maybe the white balance is not right resulting in everything appearing very yellow in the interior photos or the photograph has been taken with such a wide angle lens that everything looks really distorted.

You probably want your property to look more ‘fine house’ and less ‘funhouse’ and that’s where we come in.

With seven years of property photography experience we know how to advise the owner to prepare before the photo shoot, how to deal with difficult lighting, small rooms, colour casts, verticals, and many other issues while capturing images that grab the attention for all the right reasons and inspire potential buyers to pick up the phone.
