How many images do I need?

Professional Photography is an investment and is still the main basis of the marketing media for every holiday let. How many images and the types of images you need for your holiday let depends on a few factors:

  • How big the property is
  • Whether you want lots of detail shots
  • Where you will be using the images
  • How often you want to change the images online

How big is your property?

More rooms need more photos - even a small let will usually need 25 images to tell its story properly. The 25 image package is where we start. There is also a 35 image package and a 50 image package for bigger properties.

Do you want detail shots?

With a holiday home, everything that is at the property at the time of the shoot will be there when your guests arrive. For this reason it is often nice to get some detail shots to showcase what a stay would feel like. This could be decoration details such as a little beach sign or a cosy fireplace or a shot of the welcome pack. Allow for these extra shots when you choose your image package.

Where will you use the images?

Most booking sites like Airbnb and Booking.com want landscape images and this is our standard image format. If  you want images to use on Instagram and Pinterest and other social media that require photos shot in portrait let us know when you book your shoot - you will need a bigger image package too.

How often will you rotate your images?

Swapping some of your images out for different ones occasionally can keep your listing looking fresh and will require a bigger set of images for you to choose from.

It is always better value to get more images from your shoot than to rebook us to do another shoot. If you are looking for detail shots and portrait images, you will need at least 35 images even for a small holiday let.

add-ons for holiday homes

Do I need anything extra?

Beautiful aerial photography and video reveal the setting, gardens and surroundings that can't be captured in stills photos alone. Views of the Norfolk coastline or Broads or just the peaceful village surroundings can all be captured to help your potential guests see what is on offer.

A floor plan gives potential guests an instant understanding of how your holiday let fits together - where they'll sleep, where they'll relax and how the different spaces connect. It's particularly valuable for larger properties, unusual layouts and homes with annexes or multiple bedrooms.

360° Virtual Tours are another add-on that can help your guests understand how the layout will work for them. These can have useful notes within them about hidden features such as integrated appliances.

Twilights work best where there is outside space that is beautifully lit up in the evening. They can work very well for holiday lets and set yours apart from the competition

The dusk wow shots

A few quick things make a real difference before I arrive: Have the interior exactly as the guests will find it when they arrive. Move cars off the drive if they're in shot, and pop the bins out of sight. If guests use the garden or a seating area, give that a tidy too. If you give your guests a welcome pack make sure you have one at the property as this will make a great detail shot.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book your service?

Once you have filled in this form and obtained your package price you can call or email to book your shoot.

How long will it take?

For images only the photography shoot will take around 2-3 hours onsite. Adding drone photos/video usually adds around an hour. Adding a floor plan will take up to an hour extra and a 360° Virtual Tour will take a couple of hours. You can choose to be there the whole time if you wish or you can let us in and we will leave the key when we have finished. Whatever you prefer. Twilights are obviously taken at dust so I usually arrive 30 minutes before and leave 30 minutes after sunset.

Do I need to be there?

No, you can leave a key in a safe place and we will follow your instructions for what to do with the key at the end. You may have a key safe where it can be left. If you prefer to be there the whole time that is fine too.

What happens if it is raining on the day?

If the weather will adversely affect the photo shoot we will simply reschedule. We want you to have great quality images and sometimes it's just best to wait for a better day. We need a dry day with very light cloud or brighter conditions. Blue skies can be added later. If the weather is unsuitable (dark clouds/rain) there is no charge to reschedule to a better day.

What will the final image size be?

Our image files will be around 3-8mb each. They have 3000 pixels on their longest side and this is above what is recommended for Rightmove, Airbnb and other online portals. This provides image files that are high enough resolution for any web use and for printing up to A4 size.

Do you include image retouching?

All our photos are digitally processed to get the best from them. We even include minor photo fixing in the price - this could be adding a blue sky to exterior images or getting rid of a few marks on a wall that is scheduled for redecorating. Please ask if you have any specific requirements.

When will I get my images?

We aim to process your images within 48 hours of the photo shoot. You will be emailed thumbnail size images and an invoice. Once the invoice is paid (you can do this online) we will send you the high resolution images by 'We Transfer' or a similar image transfer service.

How do I get my images?

Once payment has been made the high resolution images are sent to you by 'We Transfer'. This is a very popular file transfer service that sends an email to you with a download link. Internet access and an email address are required.

What can I use the photographs for?

The images can be used in any way you wish to promote your property. You can use them on your own website as well as on the property/holiday let portals and Airbnb. They can even be used in brochures if you wish. The image licence is non transferable and can only be used by you and any third parties using them on your behalf (i.e. to produce a brochure for you). Copyright is retained by us. This is standard industry practice.

Will you travel further than Norfolk?

We sometimes get asked to shoot a property outside Norfolk such as in Suffolk. Please get in contact by phone or email and we will be happy to discuss a quote.
